I'd like to ask an important question; the question simply is, do you like who you are? Is the man or woman in the mirror the foundation for what you will become, or are you disappointed with whom you currently see?
Many lessons can be learned as an adult, and I've reflected upon my character daily, as well as given myself so many moments of self-evaluation. I'm truly my greatest supporter, and the absolutely meanest critic I will ever know. That said, I tend to tell the people who are the absolute closest to me, that they can say what they wish. Not too many words sink in too consistently; I get harsh.
That said, I'm constantly in search of growth, as we all should be. People will label you, parade around you as a support system, and then take the same console/machine & beat you in the skull with it. Change is the need...change is the key! Change how you view or value yourself, and upgrade it. Remember your crown belongs on your head, and not on your night table. Pick it up before you walk out of the door. Change who you surround yourself with. Be observant and vigilant in where you place your presence, and in whom you place your trust. I will forever walk alone, before I allow vessels of venom into my house to stay, and feed. You should certainly feel the same.
Tell your brain that you are awesome...daily. Stare into the mirror with intention, and breathe life into your dreams. See the value & amazement that flows through your arteries. So many times we've made choices to pursue good or great things, but how we see ourselves has already put us in stages where we've already been defeated.
Dr. Palmer, a Pastor of an SDA church in Philly once said in a sermon, "you can tell your brain how you feel, who you are, and how to think. You can verbally tell you brain what to do, and reprogram it by forming a habit of positive speech." I never forgot that, though at times circumstances come up where it appeared to be temporarily omitted from my memory.
2019 will soon draw to a close. It has been a fast, and psychotic year! Let's not leave it the same way we entered in. Let's remember to make change, and become the men and women we wish to become!
