How Thankful Are You?

Gratitude isn't something we all typically harp on, until today. HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!! Happy holidays, for those who don't celebrate this holiday in the conventional sense. I completely comprehend why! What holiday in this country was actually conceived without ill intent, correct? We don't need to dive into the mass slaughter of the native people of this land...do we? I'm certain the all of that good stuffing, mac n cheese (yes lawd), and pumpkin pie (sweet potato is just as appetizing) won't dilute our memory of the wickedness this country has been created in. Do you see a reason to be thankful, or is this just about "Turkey Day" for you?

We people of the melanin kind have much to be thankful for. Yes we continue to watch our people suffer, and become newsworthy martyrs who SEEM to just lie down and take the violence, abuse, and persecution. Believe me when I tell you, there is a day coming when all of this will be valiantly rectified, and the shift will be enforced!! What will become of the naysayers, racists, and prejudicial people then? I don't think you want to know. At this present age, those of us who're still breathing have quite a bit to be grateful for.

Breath - Indeed...we're still breathing! I know people who've caught "COVID," recovered from it, and have lingering respiratory effects from it. If you've got breath in your body...be thankful. If you don't suffer from bronchitis, be thankful! I know folk who are thankful, even with their difficulties breathing. Oh, and in case the obvious remains elusive to you at this moment....breathing means that YOU'RE ALIVE!

Arms and Legs - The amount of people who're without what's considered natural appendages, is way more alarming than most tend to realize. Even though being born with these things is the norm, we should be thankful for them. Folk exist who have to live without these necessary pieces, and they thrive! I genuinely have no need to complain.

Eye Sight - You just can't see the beauty (or chaos/destruction) of the world without them! Did I say chaos/destruction? Forgive me y'all...just being transparent here. You expected me to say something different? Okay, cool, I'll switch it up a bit. You can't see the masked guy trying to hijack a dude's hummer at the gas station, if you don't have a reasonably decent set of eyes. I didn't make it any better huh? *sigh* fine! You won't see the little poodle in the dog park wagging its tail, and sticking its tongue out waiting for the owner to throw the ball. Aren't puppies cute? Imagine a puppy poodle staring at you in the face lovingly. You know you want to...just admit it.

Love and Loyalty - Truly loyal and loving (biological) family, as well as thorough and "ride or die," chosen family is so hard to come by. Treasure those connections forever, and do not allow foolishness to break them. I have no need or desire to go into detail, in regards to HOW HARD it is to find these very special, and necessary people!
