"Being A BBW Part III: The Breakdown" Instagram Live/YouTube Session

I truly enjoyed this live session; sometimes, people need further confirmation on what certain labels/words should mean, or represent. This subject was quite necessary to be spoken about. On Instagram, her handle is @breebrii1115, but most know her as Beane (her real name will not be displayed due to her wishes). I fully intended to dive into her live session; it was enriching, to say the least.

What is a BBW? Why does the term seem so loosely used regarding women of a larger size? Is it a "real thing?" Is it a fetish? Honestly...it truly does stand for something. Labels shouldn't hold too much weight in just any case, but being a BIG, beautiful woman should center around some obvious ideals. Yes, surely size is the 1st & most obvious point, but we've got to unpack a few of society's questionable practices.

Size...does not define a woman. Jill Scott, Queen Latifah, and a host of other women who were heavier than your average, were actively dominating and excelling in their perspective professions. Surely it's always been concerning for society to hold a negative visual towards larger women, as if their size defined their worth. It's always been an issue that should have been a non-issue.

Many men who are swayed by the masses see BBW as the last resort to ask on a date. Some men truly love all women, including women of the fluffier variety. Sadly, some men in that category are afraid of what others would think & say, and therefore take big women out when no one can see them. Little do they realize that this era is quite the difference maker. Men get "curved" & rejected by big women too! Self esteem is a broad issue affecting many women, but understand that not all big girls possess low self-esteem. Rejection is humbling! Feelings get hurt because of horrible assumption.

Beane brought up some valid points which I also had questions about. The norms, which present the media's consistent confounding of people's minds, have it so that larger women already have people chastising them. When a BBW ends up speaking negatively against another BBW, then the questions begin to come in a bit more fluidly. The same fight is being fought, and you wish to go to war with someone, who is literally in the same boat as you are (regarding fat shaming, due to the insecurities of the masses, who're bashing & bullying people who hold plenty of weight)? I have yet to find sense in those moments, but we'll carry on.

Aside from being big, a woman of size is to also be beautiful...especially on an internal scale. We fail to recognize that just like any other beautiful woman, your exterior could be angelic & radiant, while your character & personality measure up to the ranks of rancid milk. Do you truly comprehend how disgusting that smells? A woman is a powerful force, and divinely formed, but your character & personality will create a magnetic pull, in which others can feel. Internal beauty does wonders, while the external aspect simply does its part as the fitting compliment to the being in view.

What is a BBW? She's a woman...with just as much spunk, fire, power, love, nurturing, talent, skill, craziness (yeah, I said it lol), and purpose as any other woman. She's just got a bit more to love. Love yourself ladies, and while you're at it, love others too (with proper caution for some folk, lol seriously).

Blessings!
